Detail Workshops  Friday 14th April 2017

This workshop will be about non verbal communication through touch & the qualities of sensuality and intimacy inherent to the practice of contact improvisation. By orienting those energies towards creativity and not sexuality, we will explore how the erotic forces of touch can support our expression through dance. We will focus on skin, organ of sensuality and communication, to get more in touch with it and learn how it supports our physical & sensual experiences & interactions.

Tchivett is a berlin based dancer, improviser and performer. He comes from france and has training in contemporary dance, butoh, performance art, somatic practices and martial arts. Since 2011 he creates his own solo pieces and workshops, and toured throughout europe on alternative scenes and in festivals. He also takes part in different constellations of dance creative group processes and research collectives seeking to develop artistic and political practices around dance, improvisation, self-organisation, queer culture and feminism.

A dance practice aimed at finding a deep movement in a harmony with ourselves and our partner. The starting point is listening to yourself and in a very gentle way sharing that listening with one or more partners. Mikel will guide you through a series of exercises to bring your inside world together with the external one and to create a playful ground where everything is possible.

Mikel studied dance at the Folkwang Hochschule, Essen (1994). Since he has worked as freelance choreographer, dancer, theacher and producer in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, Brasil, Argentina and Chile. He worked as a Dancer for Sasha Waltz (2001/05), Dv8 Physical Theater (2005/07) and other Choreographers. He organized and curated the 1st and 2nd Basque Chorograph Festival in Berlin in 2009 and 2011. He also plays Rugby with the Berlin Bruisers in Berlin.

Kundalini Yoga is a practice that is mindful, spiritual, loving, energetic, and fun. It is about the excitement of (re)discovering the infinite within you, and giving you tools to allow yourself to open up, expand, and experience your potential. In this class you can expect physical postures, partner exercises, chanting, and meditation. By aligning our bodies, our breaths, and our minds we can reach a greater understanding of ourselves and of others.

Éric is a web-developer and yogi living in Berlin. He discovered kundalini yoga a few years ago and very quickly felt the transformative powers of this technology. He quit a big job in a big company to focus on his yoga practice, and started teaching to share this powerful technology with others.

Contra dancing is essentially social interaction, meeting people, and making new friends, set to music. It originated in New England, with roots in French, Scottish, and English traditional dances. Each dance consists of easy to learn figures and every sequence is taught before it is actually done to the music, and there is no fancy footwork involved. Chances are high that you are going to dance with every participant of the workshop, so it's a great way of "getting in touch" with each other.

Leo Brown learned about Contra Dance while traveling in the US in 2012 and immediately fell in love with it! Since then he has danced in Berlin on a regular basis and participated in several international Contra Dance Events. With growing experience he became interested in leading dances himself and became a Contra Dance caller.

Thai Yoga Massage is a form of massage from Thailand referred to as "Nuad Phaen Boran" (ancient healing massage). The massage is conducted while dressed lightly on a floor mat. In this workshop we will playfully explore the basic elements of this massage in a dynamic form and experience the sensuality that emerges from the moments of contact. By using different parts of the body, we will explore sinking into each other with our body weight and trust. Our practice will lead to continuous body contact and interlinked touch, an experience which is like a soothing partner dance, enabling the receiver to fully relax.

Zahiro Kai is a naturopath living in Berlin. Originally coming from Dance and Movement, he has been practicing for many years energetic and intuitive Thai Merian Massage. He learned this massage form along with other types of energetic bodywork at all important schools in Thailand during his annual visits to Asia since 2004. He teaches since 2008. His special interest and his passion lie in combining Asian and Western approaches to harmonize the body.

People and cultures, throughout time, always have created their own god(desse)s and mythical beings. In pagan cultures sometime queer, bi, androgynous, gay and genderfluid spirits and deities were known. Through a proces of guided creative visualisation, we will all individually create our own queer deites. In some gentle partner exercises we will experience how this being can be a surprising healer and source of strength.

Shamanic practitioner for more than 25 years, Daan has studied with traditional healers and shamanic teachers from various cultures (Lakota, Southern Ute, Sami and others). Combining elements of shamanic ritual and family constellations, he developed Systemic Ritual®. Daan is the author of seven books, his writings have been translated in ten languages. He works worldwide, creating rituals for different communities and groups. He lives in Amsterdam and Berlin.

In this version of contact improvisation it is allowed to touch your partners‘ entire bodies by chance and also intentionally. Co-creative dancing and experiencing intimacy with others, assuming active and passive roles in various percentages, queer sensuality, deeply erotic and also acrobatic moments - all of this may occur. A safe container will be held which will allow the participants to express themselves fully and freely. This will not only be a lot of fun, this practice also has a very integrative and healing effect.

Ralf Jaroschinski was born in Southern Germany and grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He trained to become a dancer in Hannover, Germany, and New York, USA. He works as a dancer, choreographer and dance instructor since over 30 years. Since about 15 years, he focuses on contact improvisation and facilitates this technique in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia. In 2009, he developed „sensual contact improvisation“ in San Francisco and has taught several workshops and class series in the US, Peru, Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany since.

This workshop is an opportunity to be more bold about expressing your desires. Take time to identify what you really want and to express it as clearly and as detailed as necessary.

Reclaim your desires as an expression of your souls drive and Eros. Let yourself be nourished by the energy contained in them despite your possible fear of rejection, of judgment or despite the fact that your desire might not be fulfilled.

Kai is a breath therapist based on Prof. Ilse Middendorf's work, an authorized Continuum teacher, holds the German Heilpraktiker license for psychotherapy and co-founded the Somatic Academy of Berlin. He created Authentic Eros - Explorations for Men & For and Beyond all Genders and curates the STRETCH and the BODY IQ festivals. In 2016 he initiated a new Community Center in Berlin called Village. He believes that the conscious body and the reclaiming of Eros are crucial elements in our evolution toward an integral way of life. Kai teaches since 2002 in Europe and in the US.

Come play with the interface between ourselves and others! We will co-create a video art piece as we dance, bringing fresh beats together with our bodies as we move through space; what feels right 'out of focus' of the cameras versus 'in focus?' Explore your relationship with ‘Other’ and ‘Technology,’ ‘Present’ and ‘Future’ as we share our analog dance through a digital video published after the event.

MJ Petroni is a cyborg anthropologist and performer who explores the shift from fear to purpose. He draws from his experience with queer life, digital businesses and global nomads to translate the possibilities and threats of the future into mindful action in the present.

Each of us has gay/queer ancestors, even if we do not know their names and faces. In this ritual, we experience the lineages of queerness as they stretch out throughout time. Monotheistic religion has tried to make us believe we are a mistake, but we are part of creation. Connecting to our queer ancestors gives us a new sense of belonging. Knowing where we come from, we discover unexpected roots and solid ground.

In this session we will use our forearms and elbows, as well as our hands, for a deliciously sensual, dance-like massage.

Michael trained at The Royal Ballet School, London, before having a wide-ranging career in dance, theatre and Opera. His somatic teaching includes dance, Gyrotonic, Gyrokinesis and Pilates, and therapeutic bodywork: Biodynamic craniosacral therapy and Thai Yoga massage. Currently, Michael offers one-on-one bodywork sessions, and creates work in performance and visual arts.

In this workshop we will explore the basic tools that are necessary for those who wish to create community.  We will explore through discussion and experiential exercises.

John Stasio is the founder of Easton Mountain, a community, sanctuary and retreat center in upstate NY. Our Community is an eco-friendly, permaculture inspired, queer friendly, eros friendly and social justice oriented.  Easton Mountain was begun by a community of gay men as a gift to the world and to inspire and encourage people to be a force for positive change in the world.

This space is all about TOGETHERNESS and getting your basic needs of warmth, touch and connection met. Together we create a place of inclusion, consent and mutual appreciation; a place to forget about your worries or your latest man crush, let go and allow yourself to be held by the group. This cuddle puddle will be international, don’t miss it.

Roman, Julian and Uffe - the cuddle collective - have skills and backgrounds from many different areas. Roman is a breath worker, actor and one time berghain barman/celebrity. Julian is a physical performer, whole body focuser and certified temple whore and Uffe is an erstwhile political scientist now moonlighting as a professional cuddler with his new donation based initiative “cuddleNcompany”.

Detail Workshops  Saturday 15th April 2017

Grounded Presence

Grounded presence is the first step in practicing Whole Body Focusing. It invites us to arrive in the body in the presence of another, to listen to ourselves. It is the first and fundamental step in establishing relationship with another. I cannot meet you there until I am grounded and connected with me here. Only then can we create a we. If any of this speaks to you come along. This workshop involves no interpersonal touch.

Saturday

11:00-12:30

Julian A Crotti

Julian is drawn to the strength and simplicity of the body. In Australia he works in dance and continues an Arts practice there involving film, tv and performance art. In Europe he explores body-oriented modes of healing. Landing with Whole Body Focusing; a technique guided by the inherent wisdom of the body. These two paths now intertwine and deepen as he continues to cut a path through this life.

Micro Space Explosions

Gentle, self-generated soundscapes and unpredictable, organically arising micro movements will accompany this continuum movement journey into our bodies. Intention, vibration and wave motion touch the surface and the depths of our body, our being and identity. Similarly, we awaken and claim both, the heart and the genitals from the inside, then continue to weave sensory awareness, sound and micro space activity until we unwittingly shift from producing to becoming - something other then the sum of our parts. You can discover and meet who else lives inside you and then take that into partnering.

Make Peace with

Yourself

Most of us have an inner voice that tells us that we're too fat, too gay, too old or just too.... If you've tried to banish your inner critic with positive messages, becoming more successful, or spending more time in the gym, you'll know they only work for a while. In this workshop, you'll go through a ritual to befriend this voice, learn lessons and ultimately to leave it a bit more behind. Warning this workshop includes hugs.

Genital & Herz

Meditation

Getting in Touch

In different exercises we are going to look at ways of getting in touch with ourselves and the others when ‘listening’ is a base for communication. It is an approach to sensing and perceiving viewed as reciprocal activities of whole body with its environment. The Choreography of a
