Medieval Queer

Ballroom

Renaissance and medieval dances are a particular mixture of dance and theater, they often show us that gestures associated with gender rolls might not have always been as they are today. We will use ancient music and explore some traditional dancing steps to create a fantasy/cross-dressing ballroom in a playful, carnival like, and flirtatious atmosphere. We will not focus in learning long codified sequences, but rather in building a group connection, and a playground where we can improvise and have fun with the joy and the curiosity of a child who uses movement to discover and to develop life.
