Paternal Affairs//

Tomi Paasonen

During this workshop we will focus on our relationships to the fathers, role models and daddies of our lives and how they have shaped our understanding of ourselves, our sexuality and our erotic talents or inhibitions. By integrating our bodies’ movements with voice, breath and spoken word, we invite the participants on a improvisational experience to journey through the thoughts, memory landscapes  and sensual sensitivities that erupt through investigation in this particular theme.

Tomi Paasonen is a choreographer, artistic director and curator, born in Finland and based in Berlin since 2003. His eclectic stage productions have strong queer aesthetics that often is rooted in documentary layers, provided by the theme-specific casts he chooses for his productions. His practice of working both with professional performers and laymen, ranging from disabled performers, prisoners and sexual minorities, has led him to develop an expansive array of device methods that engage the performers in autobiographical investigation.
