Detail Workshops  Friday 21th July 2017

In Western culture, myths about inspiration (as represented by the Muse) are traditionally heteronormative. Cultural institutions usually promote the norm and play down or even silence the margins. But inspiration knows no such boudaries. Through role-play, we will summon alternative muses and try to channel queer energy into verbal creativity. This workshop is about tapping into queerness as a source of creativity, and allowing the poet and the muse within us expression.

Vanasay is a playwright and stage-director working in France, where he trained as an actor and musician. Beside his work in mainstream theatre, where he translates and directs, among others, plays by Shakespeare or Howard Barker, he has developed a series of performances exploring queerness, hinging on the notion of metamorphosis.
She’s also a singer.

In this workshop it is all about gentle contact, contact to yourself, to your source, your body, your resources and your heart. We'll look into your very being to discover, that behind all these masks and ideas, fears and resistances, that there is so much to love and appreciate about yourself. With this process it gives you the opportunity to connect with your soul. Releasing thoughts of fear and anxiety, in other words, finding the most welcome balance. This of course gives you the grounding that is needed. You have the natural ability, to always support yourself in the way you breath, the way you are letting live force energy (oxygen) into your system, allowing life to support you. It is about enjoying life and bringing blessings into your world.

Roman Shamov is a Berlin based actor, singer and breath work therapist. His work is about assisting people in the process of getting to know themselves better and to appreciate their own company more and more in order to connect in a different way to other people and the world around them. He learned from a Hopi Indian Shaman in Arizona in 2003 and has worked since all around the world, recently he works in Japan, Turkey and Germany.

Four quarters in the room: one to be dressed, one to undress, one to be naked, one to put your clothes back on. Bodies short and tall, slim, beefy, hairy, smooth, older, younger. Scars, wounds, wholenesses. Big dicks, small dicks and no dicks. A ritual you perform in your own way and tempo, as often as you want. We all go through it, if we want, and all at the same time. We look at everything, we see each other, aware of the other man's and our own vulnerability. Witnesses/witnessed in the flowing stages of nakedness, (un)dressing, clothedness.  No interaction, no words, no touch.

Shamanic practitioner for more than 25 years, Daan has studied with traditional healers and shamanic teachers from various cultures (Lakota, Southern Ute, Sami and others). Combining elements of shamanic ritual and family constellations, he developed Systemic Ritual®. Daan is the author of seven books, his writings have been translated in ten languages. He works worldwide, creating rituals for different communities and groups. He lives in Amsterdam and Berlin.

Through different breathing techniques and meditation, we achieve a modified hormone release in our body and experience its effect on our perception, sensation and emotions.

Julian originally studied acting, singing and dance before he discovered his passion for massage and bodywork. He regularly organises and leads courses for men and weekend workshops in Zürich under the title of “Men Bodywork”. The main areas of work are breath, voice, movement, touch, self-acceptance and the discovery and expression of your own needs as the key to a free and fulfilling (sex) life.

I want to hug you now, in Berlin, in Spain, picking pears, on the side, in a Zen way, devouring you, on my own, like a mother, like a bear… I truly want to hug you. Come and explore the multicoloured world of ‘hugs’. In this workshop you will experience hugging as never before. Do you dare to hug and be hugged?

David works currently as a trainer in a variety of areas ranging from conflict resolution to meditation techniques. David is a qualified Social Worker and has degrees in Political Science and Sociology. Originally from Spain, David has been living in Brighton (UK) for the last 14 years. His interests include, travelling, community building, music, books, art and communication skills.

Each of us has gay/queer ancestors, even if we do not know their names and faces. In this ritual, we experience the lineages of queerness as they stretch out throughout time. Monotheistic religion has tried to make us believe we are a mistake, but we are part of creation. Connecting to our queer ancestors gives us a new sense of belonging. Knowing where we come from, we discover unexpected roots and solid ground.

This workshop will begin with everyone’s individual writing journey into themselves, answering questions with key words that characterize who you are in different constellations of your life. The exploration of ourselves ranges from superheroes and spirit animals to villains. In the second phase we are invited to dance, shake, express, and embody what the key words evoke in us, both in a group and as individuals, in order to celebrate our strengths, vulnerabilities and aspirations.

Tomi Paasonen is a choreographer, director and festival curator born in Helsinki, Finland. After his career as ballet dancer in Hamburg, San Francisco and Chicago, he founded KUNST-STOFF, an inter-disciplinary physical theatre and arts-event company in San Francisco, before moving to Berlin in 2003. His dance-, opera-, video- and photo works seamlessly blend fiction with documentary. Currently he is artistic director of a dance center in Finland he splits his time between Finland and Berlin.

In this workshop you have the opportunity to explore and embody various human attachment styles. We will do so on the basis of "attachment theory" - a psychological model that attempts to describe dynamics of interpersonal relationships. Feeling and being exposed to various attachment styles can generate very powerful insights, interests and consequences in regards to one's own relationship dynamics.

Kai is a breath therapist based on Prof. Ilse Middendorf's work, an authorized Continuum teacher, holds the German Heilpraktiker license for psychotherapy and co-founded the Somatic Academy of Berlin. He created Authentic Eros - Explorations for Men & For and Beyond all Genders and curates the STRETCH and the BODY IQ festivals. In 2016 he initiated a new Community Center in Berlin called Village. He believes that the conscious body and the reclaiming of Eros are crucial elements in our evolution toward an integral way of life. Kai teaches since 2002 in Europe and in the US.

Love is so beautiful and raw at the same time. In every relationship there is a desire to come home with each other. When there is love, inevitable, betrayal comes as well. Not meet reciprocal, sometimes unconscious, expectations. We seek out lovers who mirror our themes flawlessly. In this workshop Systemic Constellations we explore our fluidity in gender roles and wherever it goes.

Roef Mensink works as a communication coach in Doetinchem (NL) with systemic constellations, solution focussed partner work and massage. He is trainer/ actor in communication workshops about safety in families all over the Netherlands. In organizing touch events Roef creates opportunities for men in the east part of the Netherlands to experience intimacy and hearth connection in a physical way. He studied communication, psychology, physical education. He is certified by Authentic Eros as a Sacred Intimate.

A workshop based on sensual healing, exploring subtle and intimate touch. Through different body-awareness exercises we will focus on our personal healing capacities. Once connected with our hearts and invited to move to the beat of the shaman drum, we will encounter other men with whom we can exchange sensual and conscious touch. A workshop in which fun and Eros are the basics to help eachother enjoy our physical form and presence.

Robert is a massage and touch therapist with a background in Yoga, dance and theatre. He has been involved since 1997 in ritualistic work with Ayahuasca. As a passionate Umbanda practitioner and healer he travels Europe and Brasil to share his healing touch. After completing the Sacred Intimacy training he created his own workshops. Also known as an Erotic shaman he focuses on the healing aspects of conscious touch, pleasure, joy and gratitude.

During this workshop you will have an opportunity to Give and Receive a partnered touch meditation, building upon your capacity to hold presence. Holding presence when touching another human being can change our experience from mind numbing to mind blowing. Building a stronger connection between our genitals and heart helps us accept and allow feelings of vulnerability within our experiences of intimacy and sexual arousal.

Curt MasonIs a qualified and experienced Gestalt psychotherapist and certified Sexological Bodyworker. He has been a practicing meditator for over 15 years. Curt primarily works with gay and same sex attracted men with a focus on intimacy, sexuality, relationships, anxiety, trauma and group work. Vogue-Chi combines movement and cultural elements of both Voguing - a spectrum of dance and theatrical forms based on fashion- and Tai-Chi to create a dynamic, self-affirming, meditative practice. Vogue-Chi uses cat walking, voguing vocabulary, learning how to use energy via word reclamation, bending of social performativities, among other tools historically developed by LGBTQ+ people to engage positively in life and overcome institutionalized oppression, invisibilization and abuse.

Carlos (Atabey) Maria Romero is a performing artist, pedagogue, curator and a member of Vividero Colectivo, a Colombian group of multidisciplinary artists and architects revealing narratives in which historically marginalized bodies, social practices and architectural goods can be (re-)claimed as cultural heritage. In 2016 Carlos in collaboration with artist/dancer Ted Roger created Vogue-Chi, a queer movement therapy with an initial emphasis on people aged 50+.

Naked YIN Yoga

Being naked is at times challenging for us, let’s come together and face our insecurities and perceived limitations and gently work beyond them to arrive in a space of letting-go and surrender, where we are invited to establish a deep and loving connection to ourselves. We store feelings like fears, shame, worries, resentments and traumas as tensions in our body. Through the practice of Yin Yoga along the Chinese meridians and with the tool of Buddhist mindfulness meditation our tension knots get released; thoughts, feelings and energies — balanced. This is a beautiful way to settle and ground. In this workshop you will work only with yourself. Flexibility and full nakedness are fully optional.

The Father's 'Yes'

Few gay-bi-trans-queer men have received a true and full 'yes' from their father. Most straight fathers do not know how to fully embrace their son's sexuality, and usually a distancing between father and son start as soon the first clear signals of the son's gay-queerness present themselves. This distancing can take many forms. At best it is a subtle fading out or an absence of active support, but it can as well become outright rejection, shaming and/or even violence. This workshop offers a flowing, interactive community ritual in which we will experience receiving and giving the transmission of a father's unconditional 'yes' to all that we are: our body, our soul, our sexuality.

The Bonobo

Experience

The Bonobo behaviour workshops teach us how to capture and highlight the interplay between Bonobo and human. As human’s we see how to live as Bonobos'. We learn group compassion, re-learn play, bond, groom and understand why sex and touch is a tool to keep the peace. Though this work we disrupt our mono-species experience with that of the bonobo, to uncover a past that is just under the surface but been forgotten. Bonobos live without war, murder, rape and infanticide. The females govern with wisdom, not brute force. I believe we are living out of balance and a Bonobo outlook may go somewhere to redressing this imbalance.

A Human

Experiment

Creating together a safe non judgmental space where we can explore and experiment with the topics of fear, shame, play and honesty. Be vulnerable and NOT having to be interesting, amazing, beautiful, funny, talented, smart or charismatic. The permission to show our so called "shadows" if we wish to. With respect and compassion for each-other. Possibilities: curiously playing with improvisation, exposure, sound, body, shaking, crying, voice, silence, nudity, touch with consent or anything else that arises.

On The Other Side

"On the other side" ("De l'autre côté") is based on my experience as a transgender person in a society where only two genders exist. I've been considered for thirty years as a woman and now people take me for a man, which made me somehow see "the both sides". In this workshop we're gonna explore genders, "the other" but also yours, first in using some everyday situations. Then, since gender is very much attached to body type and sexuality, we're gonna mix everything in some BDSM, sexual, body plays, to explore the multitude of possibilities. Collective Dreaming

The world is changing rapidly in both good and bad ways, old structures are crumbling. New ones are not yet in place. Some questions are too damn tricky and too damn important to just leave them to the analytic mind. We will bravely delve into the deep waters of our collective unconscious by exploring a social dreaming matrix, and we will do dancy movement explorations to address questions like: How can we organize ourselves to un-fuck-up our ways of living together in a deeply troubled world? How do we want to relate to one another, as humans and non-humans, to contribute to an ongoingness of life on this planet? What kinds of bonds and commitments do we want to share, what kinds of families and communities do we want to build, what kinds of futures are we able to imagine? Let's not look for answers, but let's try and ask some of the right questions, and let's ask our bodies to help us find them. Let's dream together, let's dance a dance of the future, let's invite our bodies, souls, hearts and minds to collectively dream new realities into being.
